"Meditation Disciplines Can Cause Trouble" - a lecture by Manly P. Hall from July 31, 1983. Hall is not criticizing meditation or any particular discipline. He only warns against wrongful claims by certain people, and unreasonable expectations on the part of the individual. In other lectures, Hall also warned about LSD and other psychedelics as a short-cut to actual spiritual practice and quietude of mind.
Throughout his career, Manly Hall consistently advocated for periods of contemplation and supported the "Quiet Way" of Zen and Taoism.
